PHYSICAL PROPERTIES

Copper(II) sulfate, also known as copper sulphate, is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula CuSO4. It forms hydrates CuSO4·nH2O, where n can range from 1 to 7. The pentahydrate (n = 5), a bright blue crystal, is the most commonly encountered hydrate of copper(II) sulfate.

APPLICATION

Copper Sulphate Anhydrous (CuSo4) . 5H2O copper sulphate, is the chemical compound with the chemicals formulaCuSO4. This salt exists as a series of compounds that differ in their degree of hydration. The anhydrous form is a pale green or gray-white powder, whereas the pentahydrate (CuSO4·5H2O), the most commonly encountered salt, is bright blue. Copper sulfate exothermically dissolves in water to give the aquo complex [Cu(H2O)6]2+, which has octahedral molecular geometry and is paramagnetic.

Agricultural grade:

Used to kill fungi. When mixed with lime water to produce Bordeaux mixture, it is used to control fungus on crops, to prevent fruit and others from rotting. It is a preventive that needs to be used before the onset of the disease. It can also be used for rice fields, pond algae. It is also a trace element fertilizer, it can improve the stability of chlorophyll, prevent chlorophyll from prematurely destroyed and promote crop absorption. When used on crops that sensitive to copper, it can play the role of seed treatment and root top dressing.
Copper sulfate as a fungicide and herbicide.Copper sulfate has been used for control of algae in lakes and related fresh waters subject to eutrophication. Copper sulfate as analytical reagent. Copper sulfate as organic synthesis. Copper sulfate use in rayon production. Copper(II) sulfate is used to etch zinc or copper plates for intaglio printmaking. It is also used to etch designs into copper for jewelry, such as for Champlevé. Copper(II) sulfate can be used as a mordant in vegetable dyeing. It often highlights the green tints of the specific dye. An aqueous solution of copper(II) sulfate is often used as the resistive element in liquid resistors.
